About Julie

Julie Stiegemeyer has a B.A. in English and a Lutheran Teacher’s Diploma from Concordia University, Ann Arbor and a Master of Arts for Teachers from Indiana University, specializing in English. Both of her degrees have informed her creative and academic writing as well as her work with students.

Her creative work includes authoring more than 20 books for children, including Cheep! Cheep!, Gobble Gobble Crash, and Saint Nicholas: The Real Story of the Christmas Legend. She has also written for numerous books with publishers such as Zondervan, Penguin-Putnam, and Concordia Publishing House.

She has taught English as a Second Language, composition, and literature. Her specialty is coaching students on their writing. Her most recent work includes work with graduate-level students who are preparing literature reviews, case conceptualizations, intake reports, and doctoral dissertations.

She believes that everyone has the potential to strengthen and refine their writing skills. Her true joy is seeing students gain confidence and self-efficacy as they apply strategies to their writing and witness their own growth over time and practice.

Julie also leads Christian women’s retreats, including focusing on topics such as:

  • journaling for spiritual growth;
  • integrating the ancient practice of Lectio Divina into one’s spiritual life; and
  • sharing the life of Katherine Luther, the wife of the great reformer, who teaches us about the vocational life of faith.
